A man is in the hospital in critical condition after a fire torched multiple cars at a parking lot in Wilmington, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire started at an apartment building on the 1100 block of Pacific Coast Highway around 8:38 p.m. Firefighters responded and found one man suffering from injuries related to the fire.

Though early in the investigation, firefighters suspect fireworks were in the area where the fire started.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The case is being handled by LAFD’s arson unit.
